She used to be blind. She used to pretend she could see everything so clearly, but truthfully she never realized until it was too late.
There was the fighting. They had none of that when it all began. They were happy, when it began. They'd kiss sweetly, send each other signs they were certain no body else could read. Signs which were entitled to them and them alone. Soft smiles, short but tender gazes. They didn't care who noticed, because they knew everyone would think of it as friendly. Things best friends do, but it was all so much more. It was so much more complicated than that.
Zel loved him. She can't deny that, just like she won't deny that the fact that she misses him. She never learned which one, never memorized the label. She remembers the feel of Drake's skin; soft, smooth and so frail she thought sometimes it'd break, and it did. She misses the smiles, the caresses, the kisses, the snuggling, the secrets, the late nights.
