The commercial called “World’s Toughest Job” from cardstore by American Greetings, the goal of this ad is to sell cards specifically Mother’s day cards. In the beginning of the commercial, the company explains that they created a fake job and posted it online, and then they held real interviews over skype. The commercial included a mix of clips of multiples interviews, the gave a description of the job and people gave their responses. Some examples of the job descriptions were, “the title is director of operations”, “must be able to work standing up all the time”, “24 hours a day and 7 days a week”. A lot of the people being interviewed were shock and could not believe that it was a real job. Also the interview said that the job applicant “must …show more content…
The audience of this ad anyone who has a mother, specifically young adults or older since we tend to forget what our mothers have done for us, since we are not with them as much compared to when you are younger. The commercial is selling mother’s day cards, by reminding them of all the hard work mothers go through and how much they sacrifice for their children, and all while doing it for free. This makes consumers emotional and wanting to thank their mothers of all the hard work their mother did for them, since the description of the the tasks that they do seem unimaginable to us. This commercial is appealing to anyone with a mother, and whose mother fit all the qualities of the job description. I feel that this ad has been successful, because after watching this video, it makes you want to go and buy a card for your mother to thank her for everything thing she has done. I feel that this exercise was useful, because since I am a business major and I plan to study marketing, it gave me a new perspective of ads.
