All of the different forms of mass media such as social media, the internet, cell phones, televisions, etc. have had a great impact on this generation. Some people may believe that mass media has only affected the world positively, which in some ways mass media has benefited society; however the different forms of mass media have created more difficulties and harm to this generation. Arguably, within the last decade social media has become the focus of just about every young person’s world (Luxton, June, Fairall 1). Starting from Myspace, to Facebook, to Instagram, to Snapchat, and the many other social media sites, these sites can be advantageous to reconnect with old friends, or to chat with your friends; however on these social media sites, many people deal with bullying. Investigation Discovery channel had a show where this young girl was friends with a girl who lived next door. The girl never wanted to hang out with the girl that lived next door which upset her. Because of mass media, this generation has really lost the true value of life; and people don’t appreciate life like they should. “The fact is that be it television, magazines or the Internet, media is almost omnipresent, affecting various aspects of our life. The products advertised by the media, for instance, and the ways they are advertised are bound to affect the practices of the people” (Mondal 1). Parents don’t communicate with their children well enough for some of them to understand what is safe or not; however present day, people can never trust or expect anything to be safe. However maybe parents don’t think that their children are doing anything wrong or are growing up to quick by having a phone and using social media, because the mass media

Katie Roiphe’s article “Girl's Suicide Points to Rise in Apps used by Cyberbullies”, proposes that cyberbullying is difficult for schools and parents to monitor because technology has a new face everyday. Like if I see something remotely funny I might say ‘HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHA,’ when really there is no expression on my face.” This is one thing that everyone does and is only one of uncountable scenarios…
