I think it is new and dangerous ideologies, because they were the master plans and everybody else is just following that. Even when the mobsters might have been behind that, don’t forget that they believed in these master plans as well. In the case of the Nazis, the ideology that getting rid of the “impure” would create a Utopia. The masses of soldiers followed that, the technologies that were used adapted to that, and in general everybody adapted to that. Now, you might me thinking “What about the Allies? Didn’t they oppose the Nazis?” Well, they were adapting to this master plan, just on the opposing side.
