In the late summer of 1914, train stations all over Europe filled with millions of enthusiastic young soldiers heading to the most glorious war. But within weeks, the excitement and glory was crushed by the horror and death, brought by dangerous new machines of war. This new great and powerful war was what is now called World War One.
