How Did Ww1 Affect Our Daily Lives

World War One, which is often referred to as The Great War, began July 28th, 1914, and ended on June 28th, 1919. The Great War, originating in Europe, was the first conflict labeled total war in the world’s history, and it involved over 32 different nations around the globe. The Great War was unrestricted in terms of the weapons used, as well as the combatants involved. Not only soldiers, but civilians and regular working people were deeply involved in World War One. From manufacturing munitions to raising animals for food rations, the daily lives of people were affected by the Great War. The final result of the war included a staggering total of 38 million casualties– both soldiers and civilians.
World War One was fought between two major alliances: The Central Powers and the Triple Entente. At the war’s start, the Central Powers was made up of Germany and Austria-Hungary, and the Triple Entente included France, Russia, and Great Britain. Even Adolf Hitler, who was a German soldier during World War One, experienced the wrath of mustard gas in October of 1918. After being the victim of heavy bombardment with gas bombs, Hitler’s eyes were heavily affected by the chemicals. In his journal, he described his eyes as “glowing coals, and all was darkness around [him].” The gas attack, which occurred during the night, affected him all throughout the next day, brutally attacking his eyes.
