World War I could have easily been prevented; however, the carelessness of neighboring countries led to a large-scale dispute that cost several thousands of lives. The total mobilization used in World War I shaped American politics because it showed the government in the twentieth century what more carelessness and obstruction of power would lead to. World War I served as an example to American politics because Americans did not want to be placed into another World War. Americans realized that mobilization was not the answer to their problems, it only caused more. World War II had a greater effect on American society. After Hitler’s reign and defeat, the Americans did not want to fall within such a cruel society once again. World War II encouraged Americans to stay far from dictatorship; however, the war also had a negative impact on Americans. Children were separated from their parents who may have gone to war. Thousands of people were killed, leaving families fatherless, and without a source of income. While the effects of World War I were slightly more positive, the effects of World War II were negative. The influence of World War I and World War II on American politics and society, is similar to the influence of woman’s suffrage in the United States. Woman’s suffrage greatly affected their ability to vote, and their social standing within
