World War II has been considered one of the most horrendous tragedies to ever occur in history lasting from September 1, 1939 to May 8, 1945. The countries of the world aligned with either the Axis powers or the Allies and battled in a total war. World War II had three major Axis powers which were Germany, Italy and Japan. Allies powers included the U.S., United Kingdom, China, France and the Soviet Union. At the beginning of World War II, the United States remained neutral for as long as it could, as it did in World War I. It soon became obvious to the U.S. that the war machines of Germany and Japan posed a threat to the United States. While some may say, it was not a good idea to enter World War II, the United States made the correct decision to enter World War II because they needed to retaliate against Japan after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, to end Hitler’s plan of genocide and prevent Germany and Japan’s quest for world domination.

The United States wanted to remain isolated in what many considered to be a European conflict, but no greater course than Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor can be found for America’s entry into World War II, and all causes appear to be valid and just. US-Japanese relations declined and an embargo on Japanese products sent diplomatic efforts spiraling downwards (Pearl Harbor 1941 pg. 24).
