The Radio is one of the most important means of communication that has affected nearly every single person on the planet. The radio can transmit messages from all over the world in an instant so that a person can listen to what is on it. The history of this device began in the 1800's and continued being developed and improved on as time went by, which was created by different inventors and became the radio as people know it today. Heinrich Hertz discovered radio waves in 1887. The waves moved the same way as the speed of light and could be detected with a wire loop. Augusto Righi introduced this event to Guglielmo Marconi ("The Radio"). Thanks to the knowledge of Hertz, Marconi became the first person to development a successful radio in 1894. …show more content…
The radio has the ability to spread awareness to many homes, that had them so that people could hear the latest updates on different issues across the nation and the world. It is a strong medium where people first heard these breaking news story. For instant, during the 1940s when World War II happened, the radio connected people homes to the what was happening in the war. The radio showed its importance by giving people major events such as the Battle of Britain and the bombing of Pearl Harbor ("The 1940s"). These broadcasts of the social and political issues played a large role in the America's attitude in joining the war. As well as being aware of the growing series of events that happen and continued to happen as the United States entered the war. As well as other wars like the Korean war or the Vietnam war many citizens were tuning in on the latest update on the wars that occurred. Also, the radio broadcasted began broadcasting presidential elections. In 1920, KDKA broadcast the results of the Jarding-Cox Presidential election. By 1922 local stations across the United States were broadcasting sermons, political speeches, and much other information that people wanted to share ("The Golden Age"). Also, the radio can be informative with general things like how a broadcaster tells the audience about the weather like the temperature outside and if it is going to rain or snow. Advertisers and some broadcasters spend their days coming up with ways to manipulate a person’s behavior so that listeners would buy a product or keep listening to their programs. These advertisements appeal to all of a person senses to encourage unnecessary buying. They use clever wording to confuse people so that it will touch or provoke your emotions and behavior in the direction that the broadcaster wants the person to go towards. This is not true because a person has the option to decide if he or she want to be encouraged by advertisements. They are the one that knows what is best from them and if they really need the product or not. For
