However, one way that the US remembers those who have fallen in World War I is by having a National World War I Museum. The National World War I Museum is located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The museum has a very good video giving good background information. The content of the video gives a lot of the main events that led up to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the start of World War I. For example, the video talked about the industrial revolution. More specifically, the video stated how steam engines, railroads, and automobiles gratefully impacted the speed of life and the population/urbanization. It helped people/ motivated people move to in the industrial life for a better tomorrow. It also stated how it wasn’t all was the best thing for everyone because top down growth would happen when a lot of people immigrated to the mainland. There were also documents in there such as declarations of wars, newspaper articles, guns used at important events, letters, helmets, pictures etc. There were also exact replicas of the real uniforms that each country wore during the war. The uniforms, for some countries, were divided by rank. For example, the Austro-Hungarian Empire soldiers would have cocked hats and a court dress tunics with medals, badges, and symbols of honor or rank. Another cool feature is the video about the trenches. It has a theater-like viewing while under the video, it has a scene of a muddy trench like atmosphere. The video explained how bad life in the trenches was. For example, in the beginning of the video, there was a quote that said “hell is not fire, hell is mud.” This quote is giving a small allusion saying that the mud in the trenches made living conditions hard. There was a disease in the trenches called trench’s foot. The disease was caused when soldiers would take off their shoes to walk in the trenches exposing their feet to wet, cold and gross situations. The symptoms would often consist of numbness, change in color, ulcers, infections, and warts.
