World War I vs. World War II World War I and World War II are two extensive outcomes of our world history. Not only did they occur at different time periods, but they also both are similar and different from each other. According to their reasons, outcomes, and approaches they each seem to have aligned in the same way. World War I occurred from July 28, 1914 through November 11, 1918. The four leading causes of the First World War were militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism (“World War I vs. World War II”). The war that lasted four years unified in Europe (“Differences between World War I and World War II”). The following countries: Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey were battled between and known as “The Central Powers”. Then France, Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the U.S. were known as the “Allied Powers” were battled against each other, although the U.S. didn’t come in until 1917. Several millions of lives were lost during this war, as well as wounded and missing people that weren’t found (“World War I vs. World War II”). One of the similarities of these two wars is the start of each war. Imperialism, nationalism, and militarism brought these wars to an outbreak (“Similarities between WW1 and WW2”). The first war to ever be fought on land and sea is World War I. Using submarines some of World War I was found under the sea while being able to shoot under waves. Flamethrowers, machine guns, deadly gases, aircraft, etc. were used by soldiers as weapons during World War I. In World War II other weapons were used such as missiles and nuclear powers.
