The Empire of Japan had been waging war on China and attacking places like ,the then Chinese capital, Nanking. The attack on Nanking alone killed three hundred thousand people(The Nanking Atrocities). With that said the Japanese attack on the american island of Hawaii was very catastrophic. In total there was a loss of two thousand four hundred and three people to die on the American side and fight on Pearl Harbor. This attack, like the recent attacks of 9/11, caused a sudden surge of nationalism among the people. It was made nearly impossible for the American government and army not to react, reciprocate, or take action upon this offence without public outrage. Thus, the American government decided to drop the atomic bomb on Japan killing one hundred and thirty five hundred people in and of Hiroshima.
