World War 1 Trench Narrative

The night out was cold, about four degrees Celsius. Men were huddled up together, while others kept their eyes out for the German troops. The first battle of Ypres didn’t go so well, our enemies had used a new weapon on the French troops. It was some sort of deadly chemical weapon. It was April 21st, 1915, so far we didn’t know what to call this war. It was enormous, and affected most of the world. Poor Belgium wasn’t even a part of the force, but Germany tried to attack France by going through her.
“How is it looking?” I turned towards Lucas one of the troops that was watching the German army.
“They haven’t done anything yet. I think they might try to retreat.” Lucas looked back down into the trench at me.
I nodded in response, and headed

Most of our trenches led underground, and our doors weren’t very secure. Many times had a trench collapsed on top of a number of soldiers. We dug them out just to bury them again. I began to walk through mud, and tried to be careful of where I stepped. With one wrong move the mud of the trench could leak into my boots, and cause for me to get sick. Now wasn’t the time for a common cold, I needed to survive this war for my own country's victory. Everyone will know that Canadian soldiers had fought bravely in this …show more content…
We scurried up, and ran through the trench. The soldiers behind me were hacking up a storm, and my lungs began to burn. I pulled along the one soldier I pushed to the ground. It was Lucas, he must have breathed in more of the gas than I did. Lucas was wobbling along side me, and stopped multiple times to cough. Each time he had stopped I pulled him along again. I wasn’t going to let anyone die, not while they’re right beside me. We finally made it out of the cloud, but we were missing a good ten men. Nobody went back to look for them. My eyes began to water, and my vision

When talking about World War 1, and the trench warfare that comes along with the name we tend to look at the Western front. Generally, The Eastern Front never really adapted into the trench warfare that was used on the Western front. This tactic resulted in massive casualties and gave no one the upper hand. No country could “advance” because they would just hide in the trenches. This does not mean that the Eastern Front was a “piece of cake” infact, it was more like the war we think of now a days where there was more man to man fighting such as the Battle of Tannenberg, where Russian forces were completely wiped by the German offensive.…

I have been in war for about three years now, fighting and living in a condition people back home can never imagine, it is not easy, but I always think that we are doing this for the sake of our country, especially our loved ones. During the wars, we fight and live in trenches most of the time and we would line the trenches in a zigzag pattern so enemies fire will not be able to sweep along the whole length of the trench. Life in the trenches is not comfortable at all, but I guess we are all just used to it. The tight and small spaces are always wet and full of people and we can only sleeping standing or against the sandbags.…

An implosion within the portal sent Luke, surging through it blindly. His arms flailing helplessly until it shot him out like a bullet, crashing into an invisible barrier. In an instant, he materialized in the center of an otherwise dark room. It was Alaba’s conjuring room, now illuminated by a plethora of candles. An old lantern with a candle inside illuminates the king's face.…

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Fearsome Battle in the Enchanted Forest The silver sun was slipping out of sight, as we inched our way over a rickety wooden bridge. On the far side, there was a tiny path leading down a slight slope. Not even a path really, more like clues—a snapped twig here—some tramped down weeds over there. We followed the clues until the ground became thick with fallen limbs and decaying pine needles. Then we wedged between the thickets into the Enchanted Forest and I could sense the evil.…

There was a lot of rain, and it filled the trenches with water. It made the ground wet leading to us not having a way to walk and stand. The soldier was not only one that was brave to face the brutal war. The nurse “was equally brave” (1455). He had to see “amputated hand” and “undo the clotted lint, remove the slough, wash off the matter and blood” (1457). And he also faced the soldier with “curv’d neck and side-falling head” (1457). This is not what everyone can do every day.…
