To produce more materials, new machines were developed to help the producers to meet the needs of the government and citizens. More employment opened for women and African-Americans during the war. During the war, most of the men that didn't go into war, women, and African-Americans migrated to the cities to find jobs. During world war 1 when industry boosted, the economy boosted.
