World War I had many causes, but the most commonly known cause and the most immediate cause was the assignation of the Austrian Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand. In June 1914,a Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand first attempted to assinate the Duke with a hand grenade thrown at the automobile he and his wife was riding in. Although The Duke and his wife The Duchess survived this attack they were later killed by a Serbian nationalist named Gavrilo Princip . They were murdered while they were in Bosnia which is a region of Austria-Hungary. The assignation was in direct protest of Austria-Hungary having control of Bosnia which Serbia wanted and thought had full claim to. This assignation led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia which
