The alliances between groups of countries formed as Allied powers, also known as allies and Axis powers, strongly opposed each other for their authoritarian establishments in the Second World War. The Allies and the Central Powers dissented each other during the World War I. Few countries like Japan, Italy were among the Allies during World War I joined the Axis Powers and fought against the Allied Powers in the World War II. In both the wars, Allies played a significant role and won. The alliance between the countries happened as the war started in World War II, whereas the alliances are the reason for World War I

The alliance of Russia with Serbia and France made Russia to participate in the war to defend their allies. A small regional dispute along with other causes exploded the war into an international war, i.e., World War I. The two great alliances involved in World War I were the Central Powers, which comprised of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Allied Powers, which included Great Britain, France and Russia, Italy. Russia had to withdraw from the war before the end of it. The United States stayed neutral initially, but joined Allies in 1917 because the German submarines attacked the American ships which carried American passengers.
