World Trade Center Film Analysis

In the movies, The World Trade Center directed by Oliver Stone, and United 93 directed by Paul Greengrass, both depicted their vision of the September 11th attacks. There are many similarities and differences in these films in comparison to reality. There are also certain scenes that have no significant role in the film. Both movies are compared to documentaries, testimonies, and personal accounts. The World Trade Center film, used a lot scenes that involved recognizable buildings and landmarks. It also used footage from other sources (news excerpts) to portray the area before, after, and during the attack. These scenes are similar to those in the documentaries Remember, In Memoriam, and 9/11 Naudet. Oliver Stone, also used great parallel of sound to capture the attention and hearts of its audience. For example, when the cop was driving to work in his car, the music on the radio was playing a song that spoke of how great New York was. In the film religion was demonstrated through the character of Dave Karnes. He was shown going to church prior to volunteering at The World Trade Center. Karnes was seeking is spiritual beliefs as a means for reasoning for his mission. In the documentaries and testimonies of victims, religion was mentioned. People sought religion and their faith in God as a means of dealing with the attack. In the movie, and in Inside 9/11: Zero Hour, and Remember, In Memoriam, people held up signs, and religious
