My text to text connection is actually movie to tv show. Bills “Mom” reminds me of Jay and Gloria from modern family. In modern family Gloria is younger than Claire, Jays daughter, and in Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure Bill’s “Mom” is only three years older than the boys. This was on of the first things that I thought of when we saw Bill getting in his “Mom’s” car

My text to self connection is how Bill and Ted always use “Most Excellent” throughout the movie similarly, my dad uses “superb”. My dad doesn’t use superb as much as Bill and Ted use most excellent, but he uses it as a short response all the same

My text to world connection is how people learn best first hand. Bill and Ted were not learning in actual class but when they went

Knowledge Skills Competencies Assignment The first artifact I have chosen to illustrate effective written communication is my completed portfolio that was completed for my fall semester 2015, PRST 3010 class. The PRST 3010 class, had me look at my work history and extra-curricular activities, and then weigh those against certain criteria, to see if they were worthy of college level learning and credit. Fortunately, my completed portfolio was worth twenty four college credits, so it was definitely a worthwhile endeavor. I would consider this artifact an example of my best work for many reasons.…

I think that the most common factor to all of these things on my connection circle is bullying. I say that because bullying causes a decrease in kids happiness because if somebody is bullied they can get hurt which can result in sadness or even anger. Another reason why I think that bullying is the most common factor is because if somebody gets bullied that person who was bullied might want revenge for what the bully did which can lead to fights. Finally, the last reason why I think that bullying is the most common factor of all of the things on my connection circle is because bullies might say something very mean which can affect a child's confidence level in himself or herself. All of those horrible effects can be stopped if we get rid of…

Throughout my educational career I have had several great teachers. To choose my best teacher is difficult for me since each teacher was for a different course and they had a unique personality and style of teaching. Overall, I would have to choose Mr. Poska as my best teacher (not necessarily my favorite teacher). I took AP Calculus I & II with him during my junior year of high school, then I took Calculus III with him in my senior fall semester. I also happened to have him as my junior and senior advisor during Connect.…

In “Connectivity and Its Discontents,” Sherry Turkle states that the wide use of technology is affecting the foundation of which people are building their relationships off of. People crave the affection and connection of other people. However, what we believe to be known as “connecting” is completely based off of our technological needs. When we are physically there with another person we tend to doze off and connect with our technology more than we are actually connecting with the person we’re physically with. We have sacrificed conversation for mere connection.…

Too much just a recap and sharing feelings, With a text … I can answer on my own time”(Turkle 377). When texting, in her mind she feels that she is able to direct the way on a conversation, in other words lead it towards to where ever she wants the conversation to go. For example, to her she supposes that texting offers protection due to the fact that you have time to think about what you want to say and with a phone call you have to reply immediately and must keep it progressing. Also, she believes that she is able to quickly change a conversation while texting if she does not like where the conversations is leading to. This argument is effective because Sherry believes that “you can present yourself the way you want to be seen” (Turkle…

Sherry Turkle's essay, "Connectivity and its Discontents", evaluates how the common use of technology has affected personal interactions. She begins by stating that the primary use of technology was to have an efficient and effective way of communicating without disrupting the flow of our occupied lives. She presents certain situations which betray the primary use of technology. One situation harms a personal relationship such as a relationship between a grandmother and a woman. Another situation harms the way we communicate in a group such as a large group attending a conference, sealing their attention to their laptops.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…
