In our society today it is clear that having a college education is not only helpful, but is now more vital than ever. With more accessibility to a college education the competition for jobs has risen dramatically and since the ultimate goal of a college education is to help employ you with a job that you enjoy, are skilled at, and that will keep you financially stable until retirement, it is clear why the school, parents and students take a serious interest in which college program to choose for each individual. However, while you do need to prepare to go to a college that is right for you, that preparation is still well in advance when started in high school.

The emotional, and quite frankly physical, toll that high school has on teenagers is quite high. Of course some individuals may have a more stressful high school career than others, but those individuals are the ones who go on to a rigorous college experience as well. When in schooling, especially in high school and college, everything has to be done in super speed. Many students aren’t receiving the amount of sleep that they should because of workload and some students mental health is even becoming unstable. If students begin planning for college and working toward the college path that they desire during middle school, they will endure 7 years of strenuous schooling before they even reach college level. Studies have proven that this does in fact lead to students being too burnt out before reaching college levels. A study conducted in 2015 showed that academic burnout was prevalent in students with highly stressful middle school and high school experience because of college preparation programs. Another study conducted by NYU also examined how high school students coped with extra stress caused by pressure about college programs. Obviously, raising children that way is not health nor enjoyable which is why preparing for college at such a young age should not be permitted. Preparation for college should
