In this worksheet, I was able to ask my father questions pertaining to his employee benefits. It is necessary to comprehend employee benefits, because employee benefits are just as important as salary. He currently receives ten paid holiday days, 21 paid vacation days, and seven paid sick days. He also has a PPO group insurance plan paid by him and his employer, and Dental insurance paid in full by his employer. He has 401k defined contribution plan with a 6% match from his employer. The employee benefits are often overlooked when getting a job when an individual is young, but it’s imperative to understand what benefits are provided by the employer.

I currently have health insurance, but have no life, disability, or long-term care insurance. When getting a job it is important to understand whether the employer will provide these lines of insurance, or if they will have to come out of an employee’s pocket. I have great insurance through my dad’s work it is a PPO with Anthem Blue Cross. I have to no copayment when it comes to insurance and my dad and his employer pays for the plan.

I had a $300 over-the-counter medication and paid about $71 dollars out of my pocket. Lastly, I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned and insurance paid $250 of my $300 bill. An individual needs to understand the amount of insurance and the limits.
