Memorial Hermann continues to expand by opening its new Critical Care centers in Summer Creek and Sugar Land, Texas. I am fortunate enough to work in the Emergency Department at Memorial Hermann Northeast.…
St. Jude, a globally known hospital, is discovering innovative methods to treat life threatening diseases and defeat cancer as well. St. Jude has become the number one most reliable non-profit institute in the nation. Non-profit organizations get their subsidy from contributions from the public. John Greeves, senior vice president of public affairs and policy at Harris Interactive states, “the desire of Americans to reach out to help those who are suffering as a result of the poor economic conditions.” No family at St. Jude will ever have to be financially accountable for their procedures.…
1. Identify what type of hospital you have selected and discuss why this is important in relation to their market (patients, community, competition, and government agencies). By 1955, Mr. Thomas and the Memphis business leaders began local fundraising efforts. Mr. Thomas also wanted to get the word out across the country about what he was doing, so he enlisted the support of everyone he could. Often, Mr. Thomas and his wife would crisscross the United States, speaking to any groups that would listen about his dream to build St. Jude Children’s Research…

St. Jude children's Research Hospital is a wonderful hospital from the rating I have seen. It take a very special individual to work with those wonderful children. I personally think moving my family to Tennessee would be totally worth it. They have an large employed number which is great letting those know their not limited to employment. That is awesome how St. Jude, help the families cope by taking care of the traveling, housing, and food burden that could be placed on these parents.…

When we fail to comply with certain standards, which are put in place by society we are often shunned from those who choose to comply with these values. After observing different social settings as well as the expected behavior in those settings I choose to focus my attention on ordering etiquette in fast food restaurants. In each of the fast food restaurants I observed in both the Hub and along downtown East College Avenue I noticed three elements of expected behavior. The first was to place an order to your cashier in first person. The second, consumers were expected to pay for their purchases.…
Health care organizations must effectively position themselves alongside their competitors to gain a strong strategic edge over the market. Service area competitor analysis is necessary to determine the geographical setting of the service area, obtain an understanding of the competitors within the service area, identify the competitor’s vulnerabilities, assess the impact of the health care organization’s own strategic actions against specific competitors, and identify some possible moves that a competitor might make that would endanger the organization’s position in the market (Ginter, P. M., Duncan, W. J., & Swayne, 2013). This essay will examine California hospital medical center (CHMC) competitive analysis. The competitive…
It is important for social worker who are working with groups to understand the different stages of group development. As well as the dynamics of groups. Furthermore, social workers must understand the different leadership skills that the groups presents. For this assignment, I observed the group I was assigned to, which was group four. In my observation of the group, I observe the group members interaction and function.…
Using Porter’s five forces model to identify the determinants of performance against my organization I found that intense existing rivalry against other area hospitals. I am employed at Erlanger Health System which is categorized as a non-profit academic hospital (Erlanger Health System, 2018, para. 1). A non-profit hospital means they provide free care to patients that are willing be put on a waiting list for funding (Andritsos & Aflaki, 2015). Other hospitals that are in the area are for-profit hospitals which will charge a fee but will have less waiting time for elective patient care. The need to have a for-profit may best be suited when the hospital market is very competitive (Andritsos & Aflaki, 2015).…
The setting of my 2nd focus child was a Little Bucs in the preschool room (Inventors) in the classroom, but we did visit the ETSU library during my first observation. They are 48 months-60 months. I observed a 48 month old, male. I will refer to the student I observed as "P." I observed from 10:00-11:30 both sessions. The classroom was reasonably big, but the floor was opened with toys and an upstairs area where the students can go and hang up there.…
Introduction and Purpose Systematic social observation (SSO) has been used to study “physical, social, and economic characteristics of neighborhoods” and subsequently aid in the identification and construction of “profiles of community processes” ("ICPSR-SSO," n.d.; Sampson & Raudenbush, 1999). An observational study of this type is mostly unobtrusive, and, by its nature, avoids pitfalls, that might detract from uncovering new knowledge, such as “reactivity between researcher and participant,” and bias related to a “tendency of certain kinds of people participating in certain projects” (Aurini, Heath, & Howells, 2016, p. 162-164). An important consideration, however, is that an unobtrusive approach allows for “seeing the world view in a different way” (Aurini et al., 2016, p. 164). Participant observation, a social inquiry tool and data collection method used in qualitative research, allows researchers to “learn things that people may be unwilling to discuss in an interview,” and “see things that routinely escape the awareness of the participant using a different method” (Bryant, n.d., 8).…
I am writing due to recent issues with the County’s supportive staff for IHSS AC. In the past staff was always extremely helpful and routinely went beyond and above expectations. One thing that could alway be counted on is the ability to get the agenda and minutes out a little early so members had time to review everything (if only members actually took the time to actually review the material). As you are probably aware, I asked Diana Kenderian to take over responsibility of working with the staff on approving the agenda since my responsibilities as well as educational pursuits started causing delays in approving the agenda. Until last month (July) I can't recall the committee ever needing to cancel a meeting due to the agenda not being posted withing the manditory 72 hours prior to the meeting.…
