Workplace Observation Paper

Many cultures have their own definition and beliefs of beauty. For some individuals, it comes from the inside, and for others, it is the physical appearance. Most people, however, judge others based on the looks and physical appearances rather than personality. That is why many prefer to be clean and well groomed in order to feel beautiful. I arrived to this conclusion while observing my mother’s salon. She takes pride in doing her job diligently and in her own style, which is why she owns a mobile salon. With her salon services, she travels to many different of her clientele’s houses to provide her services, or they come to her. Her services consist of facials, body waxing, threading, hair color, and haircuts. After watching her operate her little salon, I realized how simple, yet complicated her job can be. Toni has been getting her services done with my mother for the past five years. I wanted to know whether she got all her services done at once or was it just the necessities that were done often. Toni said, “ I get my services done with Fatema every week, and I prefer her because I feel the personal connection with a one on one salon.” She also mentioned that Fatema understands her needs and fulfills them with the best of her abilities. Toni trusts her, and she also said, “Fatema has no problems performing her work on any race; she doesn’t get disgusted or favor a certain type.” After receiving Toni’s opinion on Fatema’s mobile salon and how she feels about it, I feel more comfortable saying the customers love the privacy that comes with a mobile salon as opposed to a huge corporate salon.
