The numerous workplace injuries that occur when workers deal with hazardous objects is majority of the time due to inadequate selection of gloves. Different material gloves are made for different workplaces, so when workers use gloves not suitable for their task, it causes injuries; whether that may be minor or severe. OSHA has placed glove materials into the following categories: leather, canvas and/or metal mesh, fabric and coated fabric, chemical and liquid resistant and lastly insulating rubber gloves (10). Gloves made from materials like leather, canvas and/or metal mesh provide protection from injuries such as cuts, burns and heat pressures (10).
