Workplace Deviant Behavior

Decent Essays
I really enjoyed reading your post. You listed numerous reasons why covering up an organization’s deviant or criminal behavior is detrimental to society and for generations to come. I agree with you when you said that things will eventually come out and that it can make the problem bigger.
Deviant behavior in an organization includes any type of behavior/action that is not acceptable by the company. This can mean doing anything that is harmful to the other employees as well as to the company itself (“Workplace Deviant Behavior,” 2014). When deviant behavior occurs, it can ruin a company and/or make it worse for generations to come to “fix” these issues.
Do you feel that those who commit deviant behavior/acts within their organization

Whistleblowing has been a topic of discussion in business for over a hundred years. While there are federally mandated regulations in place to protect whistleblowers, some still argue that whistleblowing is wrong. The main argument of these naysayers, like Norman Bowie and Sissela Bok, is that whistleblowing is an act of disloyalty to the company. In Ronald Duska’s article Whistleblowing II, he takes opposition to this stance. Throughout his article he makes three main points: employees have no obligation to remain loyal to a company, the primary function of business is profit, and the analogy between business and team is erroneous.…

I wish we had more of a timeline from when the two had their conversation and when Joe went to HR. Just because Bob told Joe “to do his job” is not a hostile work environment. Bob is his boss and Joe questioned him (I would be mad too) and if he had a stern tone with him that is not a hostile work environment. If having a stern tone is the making of a hostile work environment then every unit I have been in would be hostile. Without knowing what Bob is telling Joe and how he is telling him, I just cannot say he is hostile.…
