(2012) both found in their research that as nurses we aren’t always as compassionate towards fellow colleagues, who are both qualified and training, that we work with. From their research they both found that bullying and intimidation between staff members is very prevalent in clinical settings. Judith A. et al. (2010) also emphasises how interpersonal relationships need to be without conflict in order for patients to get the highest level of care. She questions about how they are able to remain empathetic and caring towards patients, when they themselves are being treated poorly by their colleagues. Some were found to have decided to leave their training as they found it too overwhelming, others decided to progress to qualification, these students often went on to re-enacting this behaviour towards future students learning under their supervision. Not only is this lack of support evident amongst student nurses but also amongst the newly qualified staff nurses, where increased workloads and a higher demand on them professionally (Thyrsoe L. et. al.
