Ten Day Exercise Program

Good Essays
A health change behavior that I took part of in order to improve my health consisted of a ten day exercise program which I managed to complete in the time I was given. For the past two years in college, I had slowly developed into living a lifestyle that involved little to no exercise which I have been slowly trying to change for the better. The one major health change that I believed would positively affect me the greatest was implementing daily physical activity into my life. I structured a workout plan where I would go to the gym and lift weights for one and a half hours each day for two days followed by a rest day in order to recover. The first two days would consist of lifting weights in order to strengthen my chest, triceps, back and …show more content…
For the first two days, everything went as planned and I was able to make it both days to the gym. However, on the fourth and fifth day I failed to wake at nine and did not go to the gym in the morning. What I did was go in the afternoon on those two days that I failed to wake up on time. I then realized that scheduling my workout plans too early may cause me to be inconsistent with my health behavior change. Therefore, what I did to overcome this barrier was to go to the gym in the afternoons instead of the mornings. By choosing to make this minor change, I was successfully able to follow the program I created correctly and efficiently with no absences. Another minor barrier that I had initially encountered was that I did not have a friend or gym partner who would go with me to the gym consistently. On the fourth day of going to the gym, I was so close to not going because my friend was not able to accompany me but I went anyways. After that day, what I did was ask another friend to go with me on days that my other friend could not. I’m pretty sure that I had the capacity to go alone if I had to but I always felt more comfortable and motivated when I was going with someone. If I were to continue this plan I would most likely continue going in the afternoons to the gym because that is when I don’t have class and have a more flexible schedule. …show more content…
I used to believe that going to the gym was only for people that wanted to be muscular and well defined. I then realized that the people that go to the gym are also going in order to be healthy and remain healthy. I realized that it was not so difficult taking a small piece of my day in order to be physically active and diminish the sedentary lifestyle that I had become to accustom to. What went well with this health behavior change was that I was successfully able to become physically active and follow a workout program that will not only help my body become stronger but healthier. A benefit that I experienced from the health change was that it became easier for me to fall asleep compared to when I was not being physically active. Another benefit that I gained throughout this experience was that I began to feel less anxious the more and more I would go to the gym which motivated to keep going. If I were to keep following this plan, I would continue to keep a record of the days I would go, how much I lifted and what I did on each day in order to keep track and see if I have progressed with

My Reflection Paper Ever since I got out of high school I haven’t felt the need to get back into the gym, until I over exerted myself easily. I’m glad that I took this class it gave me a reason to start back up. Fitness is important in life it makes you feel better, more energized, and most importantly healthier. With that said I never made the attempt to get back to physically fit. I love being active and doing things outdoors. Exercise has always been such a big part of my life, which is why I decided I want to be an athletic trainer even if athletic trainers do not make as much money as related professions. It is not about the money for me; I believe that if I truly enjoy my job the money does not matter for my happiness. Last semester anytime I have excessive amounts of homework, I would work on my homework during the time I would normally go to the gym. Even though I got more school work done, I was more stressed because the work is really never-ending.…

Like all the other people in the gym, I have been working out and wearing gym clothes for the last couple of months. But this time, I decided to not wear gym clothes and instead of exercising I was eating unhealthy food while trying to exercise. I decided to do this twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon to see If I would get different results. It is important to mention that for that time that I have been going to this gym, the people are very respectful and I have not witnessed any judgement from other people towards others.…

I needed to get a haircut that day as I hadn’t gotten one in weeks and my hair was too long, so leaving wasn’t an option.
