Working With Young Children: Personal Statement

I have always known I wanted to work with young children ever since I was in fifth or sixth grade. The reason I enjoy being around children is because they are fun, loving, and need cared for. The career goals and educational goals that I am planning to accomplish would be working with young children. I am still undecided if I would prefer to provide daycare or work in a teaching setting. Even though i’m undecided, being able to be a part of children's lives and helping them learn and watching them grow has always been a passion. I currently have an internship at a preschool and love getting to work with the kids and learn how a preschool works. The preschool is for three and four year olds and is located in Mount Pleasant First Baptist Church. I get the opportunity to help with the activities they do and play with the children. I also get to sit in on their circle time and hear and watch them learn. They do all kinds of things during circle time. They read a book, they go over the calendar and learn numbers, colors and letters through that. …show more content…
I would come home from school and have the opportunity to help her with the children. I also started babysitting when I was a freshmen in highschool. I really enjoyed the experience I had. One way I was able to get more experience with children was through my church's nursery. I have gotten lots of personal experience watching and playing with young children and want to turn it into a career. By receiving this scholarship it will help me to start off my education at DMACC. A scholarship will also help assure that I am financially able to continue the education needed to achieve a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Without this scholarship it would be difficult to succeed in the career field I have
