One particular example of a correlation between the event and the content covered in our class, one that would probably be the most evident example, would be how this project connected with servant leadership. Servant leadership, as discussed by Peter Northouse (2013) in his book entitled Leadership Theory and Practice, has as one of its leadership behaviors “Creating Value for the Community”. One of the foundations Servant Leadership was built upon was the idea that leadership, great leadership, revolved around supporting, developing, and bettering the entire community (Northouse, 2013). This idea is strongly linked with one of the outcomes of Servant Leadership, which is to have an impact on society (Northouse, 2013). With our event, we as aspiring leaders attempted to reach outside our own community and positively effect a much larger community. According to Northouse (2013, p. 185), Transformational Leadership is a process by which a leader uses motivation to help followers accomplish more. It is my belief that our group experienced some form of Transformational Leadership because our results were seemingly the results one would expect from a group larger than ours (including the volunteers from CSVO). All members of our group had moments where they motivated one another and made sure things were going smoothly. In the end, our team would act more than the sum of its parts and have a greater impact on our targeted
