Just like we under and unemployed people are underutilized or not utilized, so it is for exercise. It's the most taken-advantage of part of everyone's life in relation to their health status.
We tend to get 'in a rut' when we're not working. Most of the time, not working isn't our doing which can give us a bit of mind issues. We might think we're not good enough, we develop self esteem issues and we just feel lousy about ourselves as productive human beings.
Exercise knows how we feel, but it's patient and it waits for us to call upon it to help us out of our ditch of depression. It has to be patient because we have a lot of compelling arguments to avoid using anything that looks like it's going to take us off of our couches or beds.

I tried this before and I hurt like hell the next day so I stopped. Well, unless you broke your elbow or wrenched your back I'm pretty sure the next day didn't hurt like hell. This is normal as your muscles that you tore up while exercising are repairing themselves. It's a whole physiology thing that I'd need to describe so I'll keep it simple. The pain will abate some and 48 hour after your first session, you are safe to exercise again.

I don't look good enough to go out in public to run.YOu don't have to run. You can walk and you can walk in your regular clothes and blend in with all the other walkers in public. No one is going to laugh at you even though you might think they will. Eventually you'll feel great and maybe want to try a little jog. Again, no one will laugh at you.

What would I wear to exercise? Anything you want to wear within reason. You wouldn't be wearing your winter coat and boots inside the house to do some stretching- but then again, you could if you wanted
