“The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision. It's got to be a vision you articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion. You can't blow an uncertain trumpet”. —Reverend Theodore Hesburgh
Communication as an Emotional Intelligence Strategy to Lead Others

That being said, there are several effective strategies I would essentially follow in my leadership capacity;

According to Grimsley (2017), communication is the act of transmitting and conveying an inner secret to another person through a dialogue. Now, to be effective as a communicator, I will have to be aware of my inner self. In other words, my level of confidence in the vision I have has to be very high and the level of my communication with subordinates has to be cordial in every aspect. Apparently, communication is an enormous strategy I intend to follow because a poorly communicated vision is better not communicated at all. The term “leadership”, as described throughout Unit 1 of our reading, is portrayed by one’s ability to influence and or develop those around him or her in a positive direction (Manning & Curtis, 2012). For the first time in my self-absorbed existence, I had to empathize with someone else and ameliorate another person's problems, instead of leaving them to someone else or just letting that person figure their own issues. In my desire to succeed, I had forgotten one of the main reasons I chose to be a leader: to work with and inspire others, not just hold them accountable. Reflecting on this story, I realize how this leadership role has changed my outlook on handling problems with other people because it forces me to examine others' perspectives and mandates a greater capacity for empathy. Overall, the experience of being this type of leader has been key in my personal development as an adult and has transformed my zealous competitive self into a leader that cares about the well being of those who rely upon my…

    Leadership Style Leadership is the process of influencing others to accomplish common goals and improve the organization as a whole. My personal leadership philosophy has three major tenants: develop subordinates, communicate efficiently, and innovate. Developing subordinates includes placing strong individuals in strategic roles. The advantage of this leadership tenant is outlined in the book “Good to Great” where the author explains that the first step to developing a successful organization is ensuring that the right individuals are properly placed in roles that support their strengths; in doing so, organizations work more efficiently because individuals are passionate about their work.
