For example, from my own experience and observations, I know that performing increases one’s confidence, self discipline, and ability to converse with adults. Being in theatre requires actors to open up and be in touch with his or her emotions and let it all out on stage in front of a group of total strangers, which definitely helps people boost their self esteem, especially when other cast and/or crew members or audience members let the actor know what a great job they are doing. Similarly, working outside of long rehearsals on one’s own, memorizing lines by a specific deadline, working with a variety of people, etcetera demands discipline, which is gained by everyone involved …show more content…
Actors must use reasoning and logic to plan costume changes, when to set for a scene, and other important aspects of putting on a show, which develops their problem solving skills. Also, since theatre is live, mishaps can happen unexpectedly at any time, so an actor must be able to think on his or her feet to quickly fix costumes, fill in for another actor, and more. Moreover, actors must make choices about their characters without being given specific instructions on how to effectively create their characters and make sure the audience can read them. Instead, actors are given scenarios and a character and must make choices about how to convey the motives and thoughts of their characters as well as showing the physical actions they are doing, which helps actors gain the skills they could use for school

Personally, I think my constant strive to be better at what I love to do says a lot about me and shows my determination. My parents have always said the talent will only get you so far and that hard work and dedication is what will get you all the way. Being a part of theater for about 5 years now has also taught me a lot about empathy and working as a team. Learning how to embody and live as someone else for just a little while has made me a more empathetic person outside of the theater and made me more understanding to those who live differently than I do or have different beliefs and values. Rehearsing and performing with the same group of people for 4 weeks to even a few months can bring people quite close.…

Shakespeare's most famous works have been incorporated in school curriculums for decades, therefore there is no surprise that it has been translated into various forms in order for it to be taught effectively in class. With dramas, such as Hamlet and Macbeth, Shakespeare was able to explore many themes that are very relatable to his readers, which is why teachers today use both reading, technology and analyzing/performing in their classrooms so their students are able to understand the plot more clearly, see the different emotions that writing can evoke in a person, and to be able to use what they read to make a connection in other situations. Most of his famous works are still being taught in schools to this day due to their significant stories,…

The heat from the stage lights, the watchful gazes of the audience, and the sweat dripping off of our faces as we struggle to remember our lines, these sensations of being on stage are what caused the performing arts to become not only an activity, but also a passion and an unexpected source of personal growth. Through my experiences in drama and music I have been able to discover my own meaning of fulfillment and define who the person behind my appearance truly is. My passion in the performing arts started when I was a young child first learning to play the violin. Picking up the violin at the age of 6, I became stuck on one of the most basic songs for almost a whole year. At that time no one believed that I could play the violin, my teacher thought that I was too hyperactive and even my mom attempted to convince me to quit.…

My interest in theatre dates back to middle school. At the time theatre seemed abstract and out of my comfort zone, because it was. However, I soon saw that being out of my comfort zone is empowering, and being abstract allows theatre to bring the world together, just like American Institute for Foreign Study. Throughout high school I continued to be involved in theatre for those reasons, and still enjoy writing plays.…

What does theatre mean to me? As I review the questions provided for me to include in my goal statement, I feel lucky to express how theatre is unique to me and how I structure my everyday life around the dramatic arts. Anytime I act, I relish in the opportunity to be a leader, to help people, and to accomplish my actions with confidence. I started off with this philosophy at an early age and have not forgotten about it since.
