GEMS is a group with 6 classmate members. We knew each other from previous classes. I have worked before in a group with Laura. The group process was stated by Prof Victoria Gray. I will use Five Stages of Group Development - Tuckman to explain the process of my group.…
The group I am currently considering is StuMo, which stands for Student Mobilization. Some of the reasons why I am interested in StuMo are that I am looking to grow spiritually, meet new people, develop leadership skills, and strengthen my character, while also having something to occupy my time here at the University. It is an interdenominational student group, whose mission statement is to raise up laborers for Christ from college campuses and mold these laborers to future leaders. StuMo is open to people of all religious affiliations and ethnic backgrounds. One of their goals is support and help students in any way along their spiritual development.…
Working in groups can be verily problematic, especially if everyone has contradicting ideas. By applying teamwork it's effortless to incorporate everyone's suggestions into the project and get things done more fluently. I’m so glad that working together in my stunt group and with my entire squad has taught be so much about teamwork because without it I wouldn’t be as advantageous in school as I am now. In…
First, what worked well was how our group integrated our individual skills together to complete the project. When we introduced ourselves and what our concentrations were, it was easy to determine what roles and responsibilities we would take on. We worked individually on our tasks before meeting together and integrating everything into the final product. The problems that arose primarily concerned communication and scheduling group meetings.…
In high school, we were constantly being told that we could not work in groups because we would get too loud. In university group work was encouraged so that our professors wouldn't have to do as much marking. During my observations at my CSL there was a lot of group work. Comparing when the students were working on group work to their individual work, the results were polar opposites. The tasks for students was to write down what they knew about 5 sided figures.…
The subjects were divided into two different groups for treatment: 1. Children and parents in the experimental group were designated to a Separation Anxiety Disorder Therapy (with behavioral therapy for parents), using a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach for a four-month period. 2. The “Comparison group”, (Adometto., et al., 2013), where the emphasis was on the children (not the parents) using a Coping Cat (CC) therapy for a four-month period as…
The group I participated in for the first meeting of communities of practice was the medical studies group. The group was composed of six individuals including myself; which were Hydi Ybarra, Ella Chen, Lina Mohammed, and Jessica Robles. In this meeting, I had the fortune of meeting a group of wonderful young women who had similar views when it came to providing medical services to minorities and became friends with two of these individuals quickly. During the discussion, we mentioned how insurance played a big role when it came to healthcare and the access it has based on insurances. We discussed how despite the fact that many individuals are paying hundreds of dollars to have insurance they are still charged a co-payment amount that is due before each visit or hospitalization.…

For this week’s assignment, I must write about an experience I had where I was in a group situation, and after the conversation was finished, I was left feeling that “we were just not communicating.” While my family sat for dinner, the conversation seemed to turn sour. My oldest son, 10years old at this time, frequently spoke in a disrespectful tone with me. If we’d talk about how school went that day, or how he was choosing to study for an upcoming test, he would seem to act defensively, and his tone of voice would turn angry. I found myself in a situation where I tried to defend myself, and encourage the male individuals to see that the boy’s behavior was unreasonable.…
1. Even when there is a clear policy question evident, it is best that questions of fact, prediction and policy are taken into consideration first and foremost. Questions of fact must be constructed into a story or thesis to determine whether or not something is true or false or did or did not happen, this is essential because the formulation of your story then generates your position(s). Questions of prediction are the likelihood of an occurrence in any situation.…
Group Reflection 4 This week’s group was really interesting for me. As a group we experienced our first bit of “conflict” in our group. However, I did not actually feel like there was much of the conflict but more of a misunderstanding. Personally, I don’t have a problem with the way the co-leaders run the group.…
In instructional design, evaluation of and reflection on product and process is critical. As an instructional designer, I must continue to reflect on my skills and growth as I reflect on my work. My graduate work continues my scholarship of teaching and learning that I started in my undergraduate work. As I learn how to teach, I also learn how to learn, making me a better instructor.…
Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
I believe that collaboration or teamwork is essential for a student to have because of of how beneficial it is now and the future to come. It helps build an individual 's social skills and improve interactions with other people. Collaboration is a great opportunity for the person to express and share their ideas with others and possibly learn from each other. However, some feel that it is tough working with others , but the only way to overcome this is by actually participating in collaborative assignments.. Lastly, working with others can be a learning experience for everyone in the group since different positions and ideas are being shared.…
In fact, my group members were very helpful and whenever one of us had trouble with something we would all participate in solving her problem or giving her helpful tips to solve it. By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
