For teen-agers, who go to school regularly and don’t have any working experiences, McDonald’s won’t be a bad choice. However, there are some arguments against it due to the long hours and highly structured job without any creativities. In fact, this fast-food chain has flexible schedules, teaches youngsters responsibility and can help teens develop skills which are beneficial for their future career.
McDonald’s gives its staff very flexible schedules. Either from McDonald’s website or the reviews from its workers on glassdoor.com, flexible schedules are pointed out at the very first beginning. Especially for a teen who attends school regularly, he or she can always find a way to fit into a schedule. Lots of McDonald’s restaurants are opening 24 hours a day. This means there are always certain hours convenient for young people to choose. It doesn’t make sense that this job will undermine school attendance and involvement because of the long hours. If a teen missed school because of work, it is most likely that he or she does not have a good time management. Responsibility can be shown everywhere in the work, such as showing managers, co-workers, and customers respect, taking good care of the job and showing up on time. Taking responsibility for somebody’s own actions is not easy even for an adult, but a teen can experience a lot about responsibility when he or she is working at McDonald’s. These experiences are important to young people and might teach them a lesson that affects their whole life. In my experience, I had seen someone got fired because he did not show up on time for a couple of times. Showing up on time is supposed to be the simplest thing a teen can stick with, but without responsibility, he or she cannot achieve
