Going into this year’s internship at PCL I was expecting to have a good and fun internship with having interned the year before. When I found out I was going to be working at Alameda Station Village got me a little more excited, having driven by that job multiple times before and wondered how it was going. Instead of just being able to find out how the job was going I got the privilege of working and helping improve and finish the job. Working with Rahn Coonts, Casey Callanan, Steve Covach, and Corey Dahl was a great experience, and having Rahn and Casey as my mentors was even better. I can say I have learned a great deal this summer, stuff I wouldn’t have been able to experience and learn without working with these guys. Last year learning …show more content…
Having basically mastered this by the time I left I was able to walk in hand out the papers get everyone the job number project name and the videos playing with ease. Then giving and going over the quiz and explaining the plot plan to them, explaining where each gate muster point and safety equipment are got easier and easier each time. Then working with Corey on filling out the LEED Association excel sheets I was able to determine out of how much waste and trash is taken away, how much of that is recycled. Knowing that we need at least fifty percent to get another LEED point on this …show more content…
Walking around with my cart and all my tools to be able to fix small mistakes on walls, floors, carpets, cabinets was fun. I learned what I needed to fix different problems with and how to fix it. I also learned how to handle and communicate with people that needed to fix a problem that I wasn’t able to fix myself. Why did this need to be done? I learned that once the units and as close as they can be to being done the owner walks throw them and marks them off on being finished. So it was my job to make sure that everything about these units’ looks as good as they possible

At the beginning of the semester while at my field placement, I noticed several staff members who appeared burnt out. Since that time, I set a personal goal to aim to lift the spirits of the staff members within the agency. I decorated the bulletin boards around the office giving the staff positive messages to view throughout their day. I also secretly left positive quote cards on their desks in efforts to further build morale around the office. While visiting the offices of the staff members, I have noticed the cards displayed on filing cabinets and taped to desk.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

In the beginning of the semester, I would admit I was nervous to start my internship with the Divisional Clerks office. Before these past few months, I had only set-foot in a courthouse once or twice in my life for past tickets. Ever since I was eight years old, I have always wanted to be a lawyer. Growing up I enjoyed watching the television show; Law and Order Special Victims Unit, with my grandfather every day after school. The second skill learned during the first 7 weeks has been to notice when a treatment plan needs to be adjusted and how to make these adjustments.…
