Working At A Child Care Center Essay

At a young age, most children have an unrealistic or maybe even impossible career goal. While working at a child care center I had the opportunity to hear some very imaginative four year-olds share their ideas on what they wanted to be when they grow up. I heard everything from baseball player, to ballerina, to wrestler, to a chicken. Odds are, none of these children will become what they said, epically the chicken. However, these children have a better idea of their future than I do. For the past year I have had my mind set on law school, but since beginning my freshman year of college my view the future is not as clear as it used to be. I have a big heart for children, but I also believe that I would be very successful in the field of business. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that the decision I make today will affect the rest of my life. Over the past few months I have been wavering between an education major or perusing law school. I have taken many career quizzes in hopes to find a solution, one being the Holland quiz. My results were quite interesting. My top two personality types were enterprising and social. Enterprising has more to do with being a risk taker, confident in their work. They are very sociable and like to be more of a leader than a follower (Gardner, Jewler, Barefoot 220-221). Social are more friendly and outgoing.
