Working Americans Should Not Work

The average time an American works is now 46.7 hours a week according to The Washington Post in a recent article. Teenagers are told that if they do what they love, they'll never work a day in their life as they try to start their life journey. There are many ways a person may make a living, either they can work for someone else or they could work for themselves. It takes time and effort to get a stable income and stress effects everyone when they need to provide for a family. Self-employment hit an all-time low recently with only 7 percent of Americans being entrepreneurs. Many people have big dreams of owning their own company and not answering to anyone, but reality is rough it’s hard to work for yourself and honestly it may not be worth it. When an employee works for a company they may not have as much say in decisions as they may want, and when an entrepreneur works for themselves they may never be able to turn off work. Stress is present in all walks of life. It may be too much for some people though. Either way a person will always have work in the back of their mind or things are always out of their control. There is a reason not many people work for themselves it’s because it’s hard and they never get to clock out and vacations are none existent. Working for yourself has its perks you may take time off and get government supported benefit plans with many different retirement opportunities. Private owners may also have large retirement plans, but it often requires the sale of their business or passing it on to understudies and shareholders.
