Managers were on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They would receive phone calls all through out the evening that disrupted any chance for quality family time or occasions. If there was a staff that called off they would have to either find coverage or go in and work themselves- this was not ideal as managers were on salary and did not get paid for the overtime. The direct care workers would have to work on average of 20-30 hours of overtime every two weeks due to the staff shortage. This caused services to suffer as the staff that were working were getting burned out. Essentially, burnout out was a given and the staff turnover rates were extremely high.
