Work Based Action Plan

In order to prepare an action plan achievable goals need to be set to ensure the placement will be beneficial and worthwhile. Additional to this a number of objectives are set to help achieve the set goals. The objectives need to be SMART which means each one needs to be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound. This means that the objectives will be achievable and the set goals will be accomplished.
I have set myself two goals to achieve by the end of the placement at the Bangor Visitor Information Centre. The first goal set is to earn experience within the tourism industry and the different aspects including marking, tourism development and events. This will give me an insight to different parts

This will help as I am able to record everything and therefore monitor any progression I am making with the objectives. In order for me to evaluate any progression I have made I will need to get feedback back from my industrial supervisor, other staff members and customers. This will be an important thing to do as someone else may notice how much I have progressed which I may not notice. This would be equally important to get feedback on what I may be doing wrong so I can improve on those areas as well as improving aspects that I am doing properly. This sort of feedback will help me to achieve my personal and professional objectives and gives me the chance to develop my skills especially my customer service skills as in this industry I need a high level of good customer service skills. First of all, I have sources of support who I can contact when a problem arises. The sources of support include the supervisor, Sarah and the staff members and the Tourist Visitor Centre procedures, these sources will help when there is a problem within the centre. An example is dealing with a difficult customer or when dealing with enquire I may not have the product knowledge yet to help out. The sources of support from the college include Roxana Magee, the academic supervisor and Carolyn King, the work placement officer. I would contact these sources if there was a problem with the placement or if I wanted to leave the
