The classroom that I was subbing in had a word wall, but it was not designed in a very effective way for learning to take place. All of the words were created using one color. This may be one reason why, when we were practicing over the words students was having a hard time spelling them. Another reason for the color is to segment content areas to make it easier for students to recognize what words or content goes together. For example, my project was centered around English Language Arts (ELA), so I Googled, “The Most Misspelled Words in 5th Grade”, because this is the grade that I desire to teach. I also chose to use these words in my project, because I plan to take the word wall that I create for this project to my classroom to help my 5th grade for my students to practice during their down time or free time in the classroom. I was able to find a ton of words, so I copied and pasted the list of words that I found in a Word Document. Then, I reviewed each list of words and compared the words from each list to select the most frequently misspelled words from each list. As a result, I found several of the same words that were listed on each list and changed their font to red.
