Wonderopolis: Website Analysis

The first website I evaluated was titled Wonderopolis. I would say Wonderopolis is a reliable resource; the reason why I say this is because when you read the “about section”, you can notice right away all the awards and recognitions Wonderopolis has. This proves that it is a trusted and credible website. Wonderopolis was created in October 2010, and is still a functioning website. It does not seem to have a specific audience target but I would assume is mostly used for elementary and middle school. The purpose of this website is “ a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages” (Wonderopolis 2010). I not quite sure how I would use this website in my classroom but I do believe it is a credible website. It does seem confusing to use but the links work correctly and it achieves it intended purpose for those who choose to use it. The second website I evaluated is titled My Storybook. This website seemed like a creative idea for a website to me at first, but once I started to evaluate it, I noticed a couple flaws. When I tried looking for the about me section, all I found was the “contact” section. On the “contact” section, the only source it had available was their email; nowhere on the page was the author acknowledged. Another thing I …show more content…
When you first open up this website you’ll notice how well organized it looks. You can easily find the explorers, the author, and other information it provides. Even though you can see who the authors are and what qualification they have, there background isn’t really qualified enough to use their information. I like how honest they were about mentioning to not use their website as a reference for research. They did have the curtesy to provide links of websites they got their information from. As well put and reliable it might look, looking deep into this website you can tell it is not a credible

Secret Six Essay In the book George Washington’s Secret Six the authors Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger make the argument that the Culper Ring greatly influenced the outcome of the American Revolution. After reading the book, one could easily conclude that the Culper Ring was a needed organization. At the end of certain chapters, the author often makes remarks on the actions of the spies for example, “The quality of their information and the prudence they exercised in delivering it had enabled him [Washington] to both understand the plans for the British and take decisive action by not to risk an attack on New York.”…

Also, the coloring of the website was found to be very dull and boring making the students not really look at the website in much detail because it did not catch their eye. Along with color, font size was also a big issue, some students said that the text was hard to read because it was so small. The appearance of the website plays a big role in getting people interested in the website. The largest issue we saw with the website was the information presented was minimal. First, the list of churches that are involved in this organization was not provided although there is a link that is shown to lead you…

When I first heard this year’s theme, “Standing Up in History,” the first thing that came to mind was the Holocaust and WWll. Remembering a book I had read a few years back titled “The Boy Who Dared” by Susan Bartoletti about Helmuth Hübene, the youngest person to be sentenced to death by the Nazi Regime, I immediately began to research other people and groups who stood up against Hitler. Soon after that, I stumbled across Sophie Scholl, a young woman in a non-violent resistance group, and began to investigate her and the group called “The White Rose” (german translation: die Weiße Rose) who between the points of summer 1942 to February 1943 wrote and published 6 leaflets about the wrongness of the Nazis. By this point, inspired and immediately…
