From the start of the movie Diana is told she is not allowed to be trained as a warrior as a child but even when she gets older her mom does not give her permission. Hippolyta is in denial that her daughter needs to learn to fight and she says that there are tons of warriors on the island that will protect Diana if harm's way was to come. Antiope trains Diana behind Hippolyta's back and eventually Hippolyta finds out and allows Diana to be trained but only if Antiope makes sure Diana is the best. Hippolyta still finds the excuse that the stronger Diana gets the sooner Ares will find her. Diana's mother holds her back from being trained when Diana knows she is ready. This limits the amount of time Diana has to be trained and to prepare herself for when Ares does come. When Diana is in the outside world she is told she cannot carry around her sword and she has to take her armor off. Diana is forced to go shopping with Etta, Steven's secretary and find average clothes that people wore in England. Diana is stripped down of everything she is, she no longer looks like a warrior that will fight for what she believes in, she looks like an average human. When Diana and Steve make it to No Man's Land and Diana wants to help the people in need Steve tells her to stop and keep walking because "you can't save everyone" and because there are German's fighting on the other side. Diana goes anyways and does not listen to Steves remarks. Steve tries to tell Diana what to do even when she is determined that her way is the best. The only thing Diana wanted to do was to be able to help people and Steve tries to hold her back from that. In the scene when Steve is going to the German high command Diana wanted to come with him. Steve told her it was too dangerous and that she is too distracting. Steve tells her "You just can't, you have to trust me". Again, Diana disobeys what Steve has to say and disguises herself
