Does Auggie deserve to look like this? In the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, Auggie has some physical challenges that cause him to be different than other kids his age. He has to figure out his way through school, Beecher Prep, with his unordinary self and learn how to survive in the normal world. Auggie did go through some rough times at Beecher Prep, but there were more positive experiences in his life while he was at Beecher Prep than negative. First, one of the positive influences in his life was Jack. Jack could have been like all the other kids and made fun of him, but he didn’t. He decided to be friends with Auggie instead. Jack was there for Auggie when no one else seemed to understand what he was going through. On page 12, it says, “And you’ll learn things you’d never learn with me.” This is referring that Jack will teach Auggie special things that you wouldn’t know if you weren’t friends with Jack. Jack always stood up for Auggie if he was getting bullied by others, which made a good impact on Auggie’s life.
