Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be friends with the school “Freak?” In the story Wonder, by R.J Palacio, Summer Dawson is a friendly, kind young girl to everyone she comes across. Summer is kind to August Pullman, Jack Will, and she is friendly to everyone in general.

One example of why Summer is kind to Jack is, even though there is big drama going on at Beecher and the whole school, boys and girls, are against Jack (and Auggie) Summer, doesn’t care what everyone else thinks and continues to be friends with the boys. One other example is, though Summer has been informed that Jack badmouthed Auggie on Halloween, Summer never ices him out, she is never mean to him, and though Auggie is a very important friend to her and cares about what happens to him, she has never proven to be rude to Jack, even though he faked being Auggie’s friend, at first. One final example why Summer is kind to Jack is, after Auggie starts to ignore him and Jack doesn’t know why, but she does, he begs her to tell why him, even though Summer was sworn to secrecy that she wouldn’t tell. But, she risked her friendship with Auggie and gave Jack a hint, “Bleeding Scream.” Eventually, Jack found out what she meant and apologized to Auggie. Thanks to Summer, the boys’ friendship was saved. Those are some examples of why Summer is kind because she is friendly to
