Wonder By R. J. Palacio Analysis

In the story, “Wonder” by, R.J. Palacio, the character Julian, is stuck up and mean. He complains about what most people would never complain about. He is mean and rude to August and Jack Will. I hope to show you the real Julian Albans in the story, “Wonder.”

To start, Julian is constantly complaining. For example,Julian complained that he’d went to Paris. That he was a relative’s house and it was so boring. This demonstrates that, Julian tries to make it sound as if he goes every where in the world. And, that it’s always so boring. He’s trying to impress all the other kids. Next, he complained about his sled,and said that he’d get a new one. This illustrates, Julian wants everyone to know that he’s rich and that he can get anything that he wants at anytime. Last of all, he complains about going to school with a deformed kid. To demonstrates, it is not only rude to say, but he still is complaining. Any chance Julian gets he complains.

For instance, when it was Halloween, Julian and his friends said that he would kill himself if he had a face like August’s. This demonstrates that he says mean things about someone just because of what they look like. Furthermore, Julian and most of the school made up a game. This game is called, “The Plague.” Whoever touches August has only thirty seconds to wash their hands. This implies that Julian wants to make someone’s first school year a disaster. More importantly, when August had an orientation, Julian acted as if he didn’t want to touch August. This emphasizes that Julian wants to let August know that he doesn’t like him.
