Have you ever felt different or have you ever been pulled aside for how you look or do things? Well, the book, “Wonder”, tells the story of a young boy who is born with a deformed face. His name is August Pullman, and he is starting 5th grade in a school named Beecher Prep. He has been homeschooled for the beginning of his life. He wanted to be homeschooled because he was afraid of the way people would react and make fun of him because of his face. He gets bullied by kids in his school for how he looks. What readers can learn and can take away from this book is that it’s okay to be different and that everyone isn’t perfect. It’s not the outside that matters, but it’s the inside that counts.

“I know I’m not an ordinary ten-year-old kid.”, says August Pullman. Auggie gets bullied by kids in his school, they call him names like alien, freak, monster, and etc. In the book, there are also bystanders that say don’t talk about Auggie like that and one kid named Jack Will, Jack got in a fight with Julian because Julian said a mean comment about Auggie and Jack got really upset at him. Auggie also had a friend named Summer. Summer sat next to him on the first day of school when no one else would sit with him. No matter how mean the other kids may be at times, Summer is always there to make Auggie feel better with her kindness, loyalty, and sweetness. Summer is a true friend to Auggie. Auggie’s friendship with Summer helped him get through going to school every
