After the American Revolution, women had the right to vote in New Jersey from 1790 to 1807 years, taking into account their financial situation. In 1807, these women's rights were denied.
When Congress discussed 15th Amendment (the right to vote regardless of color, race or prior condition of servitude), an attempt was made to distribute it and to women, but this attempt was’t successful.
The first victory in this struggle has been gained in the territories of Wyoming in 1869 and Utah in 1870. However women were deprived of the right to vote by a federal law passed by Congress in 1887. Luckily by the end of XIX century women's suffrage has already acted in Idaho, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.
