Imagine doing something you love as your full time job. Doing the one thing you love to do everyday and you get paid! A wonderful imagination isn't it?[Flattery] As a soccer player i feel it is important to inform others of the unfair payment methods happening today.[Ethos] Because i am not a professional player I cannot talk from my own experiences, but i do play and understand the game.[Anecdote] But, according to the FIFA cooperation, well known professional player Alex Morgan, a player for the US National Women's Soccer Team, gets paid nearly $1,000,000,000 dollars a year. However, Christiano Ronaldo, a player for Real Madrid Men’s team makes an astonishing $40,000,000,000 dollars a year, just to play. Does this seem very fair?Men and …show more content…
But let’s take a look at the hard facts. The FIFA world cup is an international tournament for professional men’s and women’s soccer teams. Both the US Men’s and Women’s teams attend and compete in the tournament every 4 years. After many hard and well fought out games, the Women’s team has won the Tournament 3 times, as when the Men’s team’s best placing is 3rd place. For their loss the Men’s team was awarded $9,000,000,000 dollars, however the Women who won were only gifted $2,000,000,000. [Logos] Many say the pay gap is due to the low attendance rates, which is completely true. To most of the women’s games an average of 1.35 million fans attend, as when to the men’s games an average of 3.43 million attend. Crazy, right?[Rhetorical Questioning] Imagine how the girls on the US National Women’s team feel, playing the same exact sport and excelling in it but still being paid less than the men because not as many fans attend you games.[Pathos] As stated by Kelsey Clark a College Soccer Player, “The women’s pay-and respect for them as athletes- should be equal and grow accordingly.” (Gender Pay Gap for Women Athletes…) As for a solution, a very simple task is asked. Attend more games. Most player payments come from tickets sales to attend the game. And, what a fabulous time to support, the US National Women’s team, is on their victory tour after Winning the FIFA World
