The porn industry does not contain censorship and does not spread awareness of women’s rights. It often portrays men objectifying women through looking at women’s breasts and/or labia, non-permitted aggressive and sexualized touching of women’s body parts, making sexual and disrespectful remarks about women’s body parts, and engaging in forceful oral and anal sex regardless of women gagging and crying. As pornography portrays women surrendering to this objectification, male viewers may adopt a view that these behaviors are acceptable. Men’s pornography use may correspond to higher levels of experienced sexual objectification by their female partners and it may socialize men to treat their female partners in objectifying ways and believe that it is acceptable to do …show more content…

Women who watch pornography should not be shamed for exploring their sexuality (Willis, 113). Anti-pornography feminists, like Longino, claim that porn reduces female porn stars to sex objects, but this claim robs the performers of control over their bodies (Longino, 106). These claims shame porn stars for taking part in an industry that provides them with the finances to conduct their life and the opportunity to explore their sexuality. By hating porn, people portray…

“The line that matters is the one between fantasy and reality—between the call girl who’s really there having sex with you, and the porn star who’s selling the image of herself having sex to a host of men she’ll never even meet” (Douthat 13). However, many men and women do not actually desire to take part in the acts in pornography, only idealize them. It is a way of exploring our sexual deviance while not jeopardizing our relationships or reputation. Janssen describes porn as, “a place where people can safely dream about things they would not want to have happen or do in real life (just as we may like movies that present us with worlds we would not want to live in)”(11). Although we may dream of being along side Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, most would not choose to have the sci-fi film be our own reality.…
