The labor was divided by gender, as it was in many ancient civilizations. The roles of each gender were different, but quite equal, in theory that is. It was seen as the women’s job to bare children and to raise them, and the men to take the children at the age of maturity and teach them about society. Even though these women were treated badly, they were treated better than women in other ancient societies. However, this does not make it okay for women to be put in lesser roles than, and it does not make the behavior of these ancient Egyptians correct. Class had a big impact on the Egyptian way of life. People were divided into different social statuses. Slaves were at the very bottom. They worked as servants and servers. Next were farmers.

A lot of the laws that still exist in Africa today were influenced by Islam. Some of the customs and traditions that they practice to this very day were influenced by Islam.
