Women's Resource Center Experience Paper

My experience at the Women’s resource center was information fill. We went on a tour of the building and then sat down to learn more about what they do as a organization and where the lady stood on topics like birth control and when life starts. I did get some answers to my questions yesterday. I had asked in my pre assignment how many people they see on a daily basis. They lady had stated that they see any where from 20 to 40 people a week. They don’t only see women they also see men. I had other questions that I had asked in the pre-assignment that were not answered; that was because I did not ask them. I had not thought of it like that before. They lady who showed us around and gave a bunch of important information said that birth control is not letting God take control. She also said that some birth controls were basically a constant chemical in the body that causes miscarriages. What my classmates thought when life starts also surprised me. Some thought life started when the heartbeat starts and the majority of the class said they think life starts at conception. The lady talking to us had said even scientific research shows that life starts at conception. An unexpected thing was when she said that people come in thinking abortion and then leave and come back from getting an abortion regretting it and want to get counseling. A fact that was surprising was that only 70-75% of women change their mind about getting an abortion after seeing an ultrasound and 90-95% of men change their mind about asking the woman to get an abortion. Men are more visual and when they see the ultrasound they understand that baby in the pictures t=is their child. Women on the other hand are emotional and they have spent time building a wall between their heart and brain so that don’t become attached to the
